Top 6 Firecracker Fourth of July Cocktails

Here are a few of my favorite summer libations sure to put a little star spangled fun in your holiday celebrations. And one fantastic mock-tail…

Number 1- Stone Fruit Sangria.

I love making Sangria. You can make it the day before you have guests over and the drink just gets better. To fruity rosé, add sweet simple syrup, a splash of Grand Marnier, blackberries, cherries and plums or nectarines to make the most luxurious sangria you’ve ever enjoyed. Click here for the recipe.

Number 2- Watermelon Aqua Fresca with rum.

This is the most refreshing drink you can imagine. Fresh watermelon puree, lime juice, simple syrup and your favorite white rum- or add a little tequila. Click here for the recipe.

Number 3- Cran-Pom Patriotic Punch

What could be more patriotic than cranberries from New England mixed with local vodka, lime juice and lots of ice. There isn’t even really a recipe for this cocktail. Fill a large one gallon mason jar with several cups of ice. Top with 64 oz of Ocean Spray cran-pomegrante juice, 1/2 cup fresh lime juice, 1 cup vodka, and finish with sparkling water. Garnish with frozen blueberries. Enjoy!

Number 4- Not your Founding Father’s John Daly

I’m from the South and there is nothing we Southerners like more than our sweet tea. Add in a bit of ice cold vodka to a sweetened tall glass of brew and you have one fantastic cocktail even Thomas Jefferson would love. I brew extra strong chai spice tea, add lots of fresh lemon juice, sweeten with agave or simple syrup and top with ice cold vodka. Serve in a glass as tall as the Washington Monument.

Number 5- Gasparilla Dark & Stormy with ginger shards & turbinado sugared rim

Afternoon thunderstorms are a big part of summer weather. When those clouds rolls in, serve up this cocktail with a bit of bite- lots of fresh sharp ginger paired with dark rum and ginger beer make this a perfect holiday cocktail.

Number 6- Sparkling Blood Orange & Lime Juice Mocktail

Someone needs to captain the boat or drive the sprinter van this weekend. Serve up your sober superstar this delicious mocktail with a can of sparkling Pellegrino paired with two types of citrus juice.

Cheers to the real hero of 4th of July! Our designated drivers.
