Friday Cocktail Hour:Spiked Chai Lemonade-Not Your Dad’s John Daly
This oh so sweet and refreshing iced tea cocktail is a dangerously devilish summertime drink OR the perfect cocktail for watching Sunday at the Masters. I muddle fresh lemons, add agave or simple syrup, your preference, brew up a big pitcher of chai spice iced tea and top it off with crisp vodka. Fill that glass to the brim and hit the pool or the links.
Cheers!
Spiked chai Lemonade
6 spiced chai tea bags
32 oz water
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar OR 1/2 cup warm agave
peel from one lemon
6-7 large lemons
6-8 oz vodka
ice
lemon slices for garnish
Method- makes 1 large pitcher
- Boil 32 oz of water. Add tea bags off heat and steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags. Pour tea into a large pitcher to cool.
- In a small sauce pan add 1 cup water to 3/4 cup sugar and lemon peel. Bring to a simmmer until sugar is disolved. Pour into the pitcher of tea. Stir well. If you prefer, add in 1/2 cup agave warmed up in a microwave and stir well.
- Juice the lemons, discard the seeds, and slice into large thick slices. With the back of a spoon, muddle 4-5 of the lemons to release more juice and oils. Pour the lemon juice and muddled lemons into ice tea pitcher. Pour vodka over the entire tea mixture and stir well to combine. Check for sweetness. Add more sugar/ agave if needed. You can also sweeten with delicious Sweet tea vodka. We like Firefly.
- Serve over ice in a Collins or highball glass with a slice of lemon.
Keep in the fridge up to 3-4 days.
