Friday Cocktail Hour: Gasparilla Dark & Stormy with Ginger Shards & Turbinado Sugared Rim

It’s Gasparilla Festival Weekend and what better way to quench the thirst of ornery marauders than with this crisp and sweet classic cocktail- The Dark & Stormy.

If you like a Moscow Mule, you’re going to love this spicy libation with spicy ginger beer, tart lime juice and rum.

Ahoy!

Dark & Stormy

  • 4 oz dark rum

  • 2 oz fresh lime juice

  • cold ginger beer

  • lime slices

  • shards of ginger

  • ice

  • turbinado sugar or margarita salt for the rim, if desired

Method- serves 1 thirsty pirate

  • On the rim a double old fashioned glass, run a wedge of lime around the glass. If desired, Dip the moistened rim in turbinado sugar or margarita salt.
  • Fill the glass with ice. Add in 4 oz of dark rum, 2 oz of lime juice and top with ginger beer.
    Garnish with lime slices and a large, thin shard of unpeeled fresh ginger.

Glasses are by Match Pewter. The burled wood and sterling ice bucket is an antique.
