All you need to make this versatile spice blend is warm spices and seasonings like cumin, red pepper flakes, garlic salt, onion powder, coriander, chili powder, paprika, salt and pepper. These everyday spices when mixed together can be sprinkled over beef or turkey for taco night. Spoon couple of tablespoons into your slow cooker for chili or add to oil, lime juice and fresh garlic for a fantastic fajita marinade. Be certain to write the date on the top of jar (use a mason jar or any air tight container) and use within 3-4 months.

If you have ever read the ingredients in a typical packet of taco seasons you see words like this:

  • maltodextrin
  • corn starch
  • high oleic soybean oil
  • corn flour
  • silicon dioxide
  • dextrose
  • caramel color
  • yeast extract

I don’t know about you, but I want food not processed in a laboratory. Yeast extract is what is used commercially to make bread or beer, but not tacos.

What can I make with the seasoning mix?
