Friday Cocktail Hour: The Classic Cosmopolitan

Elegant, lady like and so delicious- a classic cranberry Cosmo

This simple and very elegant cocktail is the perfect drink to mix up for when you want something a little tart, yet sweet. I love making cosmos with blood orange juice or cranberry. Both work perfectly.

Here is my recipe inspired by a cooking session with my very good friend Lionel Eby Smith- McGehee. He shared a recipe from the New York City institution, Prohibition, located on Columbus Ave. that the waiter shared with him many years ago- see photos below.

My twist is a lot more cranberry, mixing lemon and lime juice, Cointreau and vodka. No simple syrup- Just good spirits and juice. Serve shaken over ice, strained with a twist of lemon.

This beautiful glassware is antique Cambridge glass in the RosePoint pattern- my grandmother’s. It’s very afforadable and collectible. You can purchase similar here. The silver tray is my own.

Cheers!

With a twist of lemon- yes, please.
